‘Everything Is Ok‘ is like a darkly comical internet version of Black Mirror. Each episode deals with living in New York as a young and single woman in the not-so-distant future.
The show, which debuted on Topic describes itself as “a darkly comic new digital series, a young woman navigates her way around New York. It can be hard when you’re looking at an Instagram that goes into the future, debating entering a portal into an alternate dimension, or battling your own roommates during an apocalypse.”
The pilot is great examination of what life would be like with a duplicate robot to do your dirty work. The answer is a unsurprisingly– not so great. Additional episodes cover everything from getting caught in a time warp, another dimension, and facing the apocalypse.
Director Adam Sacks has a distinct style embracing the weird, wonderful, and awkward moments of life.
‘Everything Is Ok’ was the premiere series from Topic followed up with a sophomore effort from Wyatt Cenac. If this is a taste what’s to come, we can’t wait to see what they do next.
