‘Hot Date’ Makes the Jump From Web to Television

If you’re a big College Humor fan, there’s a good chance you are already familiar with ‘Hot Date’ the web series created by real-life husband and wife Emily Axford and Brian K. Murphy. The series, which has garnered millions of views is making the jump to PopTV.

It turns out Will Arnett has long been a fan of the pair and he helped the series make the big TV leap. He tells People magazine: “They obviously have such big comedic voices, and I wanted to be part of them taking that to a longer format and letting them take the ball and run with it — which they did in such a glorious way. They’ve created a show that’s very unique, and it kind of reminds me of a lot of shows that I used to love from days of yore.”

The big difference between the show and the web series, is there is now a connective narrative of Axford and Murphy playing themselves… they are trying on all these different characters to spice up their love lives. Additionally, Arnett plays a role as a sad sack of a podcast host trying to find where all his friends have gone.

We are always psyched to see projects on the web explode and make the leap to TV. Also, lucky for us there is a treasure trove of episodes of the web series out there for binge watching!
