YouTube’s Exciting Updates Direct From Their VidCon Keynote!

Today YouTube hosted their keynote address at VidCon and we are happy to report some exciting news!

The keynote was hosted with Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, alongside Rhett and Link.

Susan said, “a question I get all the time is ‘How many people actually watch YouTube?’ Today, I’m pleased to announce that we crossed a big threshold: 1.5 billion logged in viewers visit YouTube every single month. That’s the equivalent of one in every five people around the world! And how much do those people watch? On average, our viewers spend over an hour a day watching YouTube on mobile devices alone.”

In addition to these impressive viewer and watch time counts, other big announcements included:

-YouTube and Daydream have created a new virtual reality format called VR180 with cameras that will capture 180-degree video in 3-D and are working to make them affordable to all consumers.

-Unveiling of plans to make the YouTube mobile app adaptable to wide screen content as well as vertical or square formatted videos.

-Improved ability to share videos from the app that will roll out in Latin American within a few weeks with a U.S. rollout planned to begin right after.

-YouTube TV is hitting 10 new markets including: Dallas-Fort Worth, Washington, D.C., Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Orlando-Daytona Beach-Melbourne, and Charlotte.

-YouTube Red has plans for 12 exciting new projects coming soon to the platform. Below is a sneak peek at these new series.

We are looking forward to the upgraded and even more improved YouTube experience coming later in 2017! What are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments below!
