Bae All Day: Cristina Pilo

Cristina Pilo - @cristinapilo

Our absolutely beautiful Bae all Day is the delightful Cristina Pilo, a Venezuelan makeup artist currently based in Miami, Florida. Cristina’s talents have taken her all over the world, where she has worked on projects such as commercials, print, and theatrical shows.

When you were a child did you know you wanted to be a makeup artist? How did you get to where you are today?

“Not at all. When I was younger, and until I was about 21-years-old, my dream was to be the head of a big transnational company. I went to college to study Human Resources, got my bachelors, and worked for a big company. I study makeup for fun the first time while I was still in the University, and it wasn’t until my very first day at the office as a Human Resources analyst that I realized how much I hated being in an office and how much I need to create. I decided to take the Makeup Artist career more seriously. I worked there for a year and saved some money to go to Argentina for a couple of months were I studied seriously for the first time. A few months later, and with the help of my parents, I moved to Barcelona-Spain for a year to study some more.

Who are two of your biggest inspirations or role models?

“As a makeup artist, I look up to Alex Box and Danny Sanz. Both are amazing and creative businesswomen. Their artistry is amazing, but I also admire the way they take their brand and name around the world, helping other artists and creating for all of us.”

You’ve worked with so many amazing people, who has been one of the most memorable people to work with so far?

“I have indeed worked with many amazing people. My favorites are hard-working, down to earth, humble people like Pitbull, Valeria Orsini and Sue Lasmar.”

What’s one thing you are super passionate about that most people don’t know?

“My friends and my home country. I am part of a large group of people who decided to leave their country for better opportunities. I love everything America has to offer, but I left behind so many things. Venezuela was an amazing place to grow up, and my friends are the family that I grew up with. I try to keep as much contact as I can and travel as often as I can to see them. But it really breaks my heart that we are all apart.”

Who are your top three snap stories to watch right now?

Ever since InstaStories came up, I don’t use Snapchat too much… It’s just more convenient to have everything in the same app. But I love to see all the BTS from other makeup artist and photographers. I love to see the magic behind the photo.”

Single or taken?! What’s your #1 turn off?

Taken! I’ve been happily married for 5 and a half years. Real turn offs are lies and fake people.”

If you were stranded on an island and you could only take three things with you, what would they be?

“Drinkable water, my colors, and my coloring book! I’ll just color until someone comes to my rescue!”

What’s next for Cristina? What are some of your future plans or things you want to accomplish next?

“I want to keep creating and growing my brand. I am working on creating my own blog and maybe a video channel where I could share not only makeup tutorials but also Behind the Scenes photos from my shoots. I work with my husband, better known as Ohrangutang, and we are working right now on OhrangutangTV. This is taking most of our time, but it’s going to be a great platform to share video content. We are very excited to have it ready to share with all of you!”
