Is there any end to the popularity of zany gaming phenomenon Fortnite in sight? Not if their tie-in content kills it as consistently as Thanos is killing players in the new Infinity Gauntlet mode.
Coming straight from this year’s biggest film, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, to the Internet’s favorite shooter, Thanos loses little of his lethality, wielding the Infinity Gauntlet to devastating effect against all comers. The game mode itself is a Juggernaut-like: the player to pick up the Gauntlet becomes Thanos, with a superjump, augmented health, shields that regenerate on killing another player, and several powerful attacks. When Thanos dies (although, given the power level, it’s more like if Thanos dies) the Gauntlet is dropped and it’s a mad scramble to be the first to pick it up. Of course, there’s nothing stopping you picking off weakened players who spent much of their resources to take Thanos out…
NoahsNoah, despite his dislike of the Marvel films, has been experimenting with the game mode, and posted his findings:
Meanwhile, other players have found that like fellow Marvel villain Ronan the Accuser, Thanos shares a weakness for dance-offs.
Are you enjoying Infinity Gauntlet mode on Fortnite? What do you think should be the next tie-in? Deadpool might be fun. Certainly on brand!
