Instagram Testing “Creator Accounts” Made Specifically For Influencers

A small group of privileged influencers are testing out a new “creator account” feature that Instagram recently developed.

Influencers, YouTubers, and any other content creators can look forward to an all-new “creator account” on Instagram that features tools designed to enhance their experience on the platform.  Specific details include the option to view whose followed and unfollowed you and the ability to filter and use labels in your direct message inbox.

The new profile will also give you data about your follower growth and insight into what content appeals to your audience most.  A creator will be able to track how well content on their feed, stories, and IGTV is doing and if it’s directly related to an increase or a decline in followers.

Instagram shared that the feature was designed because a lot of high-profile Influencers were designating their accounts as business profiles but it wasn’t as useful for an individual.

“[Creators] are an important part of our community.  We want to make sure that Instagram is the best place, and the easiest place, to build fan communities and also build [creators’] personal brands,”  Instagram product manager Ashley Yuki shared with THR.

After the testing phase, the creator account feature will be available to a larger group of Influencers early next year.
