The studio was ordered to pay fitness guru Jillian Michaels roughly $5.8 million in damages according to The Hollywood Reporter. The suit brought by Michaels against Lionsgate alleges that the mega studio broke their contract by streaming Michaels’ fitness videos for free on their BeFit YouTube channel. Although they did pay her around $85k for ad revenue, Michaels’ says her DVD sales dropped after the videos were uploaded to YouTube. She is being compensated for past and future profits Michaels calls this a win for all content creators whose work has been devalued and revenue lost she tells Business Insider.
Michaels has now started her ow fitness network called FitFusion.
