Superwoman To Judge Aspiring Superwomen In #NewView Competition

Lilly Singh is making all the right moves with #NewView, as she sets her eyes on the filmmaking world. Superwoman is taking part in a panel of judges set to help female directors get their name out!

Why is this so important? Consider that only 11% of all directors of the 500 top-grossing domestic films are women. In light of the success of Wonder Woman, directed by a female, it’s the perfect time to raise awareness!

Singh will be part of the #NewView filmmaking competition, currently being set up by Glamour magazine and Girlgaze - a multi-media initiative that aims to inspire female creators.

To enter the competition, aspiring directors must create an original short film between three and five minutes long. Other panelists include writers and studio executives, including Netflix VP Bela Bajaria and Jada Pinkett Smith. Five winners will be selected, and they’ll receive $3000 in prize money, a feature in Glamour magazine, and a production budget to start a branded film for one of publication’s advertisers, like Birchbox or LuMee.

The deadline is June 30.

This competition displays how female empowerment is a huge deal for Lilly. Her book How To Be A Bawse recently topped the New York Times Best Seller list, and she definitely gave the #GirlLove initiative a boost!

Keep up the good work Superwoman!
