‘Facebook Live’ Dominating Live Video

The live video game has been a tricky one to hack out there in internet land, and Facebook Live appears to be killing it! Periscope and Meerkat have had good runs but now that Facebook is in the game, it doesn’t look great for other entities. A new study confirms this. According to UBS:

Facebook now has 17% of the share of live audiences over YouTube’s 16%.

Social Media Today made this killer graphic to help show just exactly why Facebook Live is so successful:

Two fascinating facts:

People spend 3x longer watching video which is Live compared to video which is no longer Live, making Facebook Live an even more valuable tool.

Facebook generates 8 billion video views on average per day.

Will YouTube be able to catch-up with their new Community feature? We guess only time will tell.
