Jada Pinkett Smith Invites Activist-Influencer Rachel Cargle To ‘Red Table Talk’ Series

Rachel Cargle might be making an appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk series on Facebook Watch after she extended an invitation to the activist.

On Red Table Talk, guests join Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield-Norris to do a deep dive into various topics including social issues.  The series latest guest, Jane Elliot, seemed to rub viewers the wrong way.  The women discussed how race is essentially a made up social construct.  Jane also shared that although she is labeled as white, she identifies as a black woman.

“I’m not a white woman, I’m a faded black person,” Jane told the panel. “My people are far from the equator and that’s the only reason my skin is lighter. That’s all any white person is.”  Jane continued, “There’s one race. The human race. We all came from the same black women 300,000 to 500,000 years ago.”

Some critics felt that the statement’s made during this episode negates the injustices black people have faced solely due to the color of their skin.  Jada posted to Instagram to inform fans that the discussion of race is a never-ending topic that she wants to explore with many individuals, including people who hold differing opinions.  She asked followers to recommend guests for future episodes and many tagged Rachel Cargle.

I simply want to say thank you for all the conversations happening around the Jane Elliott show. I’m learning so much from the conversations on this platform, @redtabletalk platforms, and YOUR platforms from those of you who are posting about it. We don’t have to agree to have engaging, informative, and enlightening conversations. We barely scratched the surface. This conversation deserves a deeper dive and several more shows. And yes, Jane MUST come back! I would also love a table with Bell Hooks,  @gloriasteinem, @michaelaangelad, @americaferrera, and some up and comers I’m keeping my eye on @diverse_solidarity and @spiritual_jada. School me. Who am I missing for our next tables on this matter??? Sound off below 💛 ✨
