How did you first get into the social media / social media influencer world?
At first it started as a simple personal instagram with a few photos of myself and the rest mostly of my children lol. I would often receive dms from people asking if I would promote their product and asking if I was a model (I barely had 1k followers) eventually I took on peoples offers and then it grew and grew. A lot of hashtags and reposts.
You are a successful model, did you always know you wanted to model? What inspired you to start?
No I actually thought that I couldn’t model because of my weight and body shape. I didn’t think that I “fit the mold”. What inspired me to start was my younger self who was 5’10 and 200lbs at 12 years old, I needed a role model and someone to look up and relate to, so I decided to be that women for other girls and women alike.
You are all about body positivity and promoting self-love. What has that journey been like for you and what’s the best part about that being such a significant part of your brand?
It’s been a tough journey and I’m still taking that journey… some times I wake up like “I am fiiinnneeee” then other days not so much lol. I got tired of hating myself, I got tired of wishing I was short and skinny and came to the realization that I’m not shrinking any time soon. The best part about the self love I promote is the messages that I receive from other woman saying thank you for my posts, that I gave them confidence and how they love themselves from being inspired by my posts.
If you could tell your fans anything that they might not already know what would it be and why?
I would tell them that I am a dreamer. I would tell them that life hasn’t been easy in this country and I’ve still got a lot to do to fully feel secure in this country, but I want them to know so that we can break the stereotypes of immigrants “undocumented aliens” and dreamers, we all just want the best life possible and we are all working hard for that, we are good people, not criminals, and yes someone from England who is white, blonde hair blue eyed is a dreamer also.
What’s one of your favorite things to do when you’re not working?
I love to paint, I also enjoy writing little poems, creativity clothing designs. Pretty much being creative, and then of course spending quality time with my children Elianah and MJ.
To all the girls out there struggling to figure out how to love themselves more, what’s one piece of advice you’d give them?
I would say the only consistent person in your life that will always be with you, is you. Why go through life hating yourself? It takes the same energy if not less to be loving to yourself, and it feels so much better, you’ll also do so much better.
In the world of the internet, there are always trolls or haters. How do you handle negative comments or hate? You always seem so positive!
I ignore, block, and delete. It’s not worth getting caught up in negativity, it’s not with my energy. Only positive vibes.
If you’re having an “off” day how do you make yourself feel sexy/beautiful?
Firstly I go get a spray tan, because in seconds I become a bronzed goddess. Next I put on something form fitting, grab an espresso shot and head to Sephora!
What’s one goal that you haven’t achieved yet that’s on your must accomplish list ?!
Creating an organization to help immigrants and children of immigrants obtain legal documentation, jobs, help with schooling and necessities.
