John Green, one-half of the Vlog Brothers and author of acclaimed hits such as Fault In Our Stars, hasn’t released a book in over 5 years. Now he is back and prepping new young adult novel Turtles All The Way Down that will hit bookstore shelves this October!
The title for Turtles All The Way Down needs some explaining. The phrase comes from the notion that Earth is flat and rests upon on the back of a “World Turtle.” This World Turtle sits upon a column of turtles, but where does the last turtle come in? That is the question this phrase seeks to answer, with the comical response that it is just “turtles all the way down” and is akin to the “which came first: the chicken or the egg” question.
In this book, the plot centers around Aza Holmes, a high schooler struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder as she searches for a fugitive billionaire. Green stated: “This is my first attempt to write directly about the kind of mental illness that has affected my life since childhood, so while the story is fictional, it is also quite personal.”
He made the book announcement at VidCon and through his YouTube channel, and fans are already gearing up to read his fifth solo novel.
